Happy Christmas from Askea BNS

Christmas is rapidly approaching and we are all looking forward to the holidays. The last few weeks have been very busy. We have taken part in an FAI inter school indoor soccer tournament. We visited Carlow IT as part of National Science Week. This weekend 6-12-09 the school choir performed at Carlow’s fantastic George Bernard Shaw Theatre. The lads were just brilliant. We helped out with bag packing for the Carlow Servicemen’s association. Swimming is going great. Johnny Nevin, Carlow footballer, is training the lads every friday. Hurling training under Mr. Hanigan’s and Mr. Cole’s excellent coaching has commenced. Math’s trails went very well for the senior classes and will continue for middle classes in the new year. Third class have finished their indoor soccer league and fourth class will start in the new year. We were also delighted to have won Carlow’ Pride of Place for Carlow town’s tidiest school. The school has also been awarded a large ICT grant to update the schools computer structure. See Blogroll to view some of the excellent resources we will be utilising. We are all looking forward to the school’s Christmas concert on Dec 16th. For art the boys are participating in the Doodle for Google Art competition and the Carlow Co. Council’s Recycling art decoration competition.
