Maths Week

We have had a very successful maths week. Each class had  a fun Halloween Maths quiz. See Math Quiz resources above. Chocolate eyeballs were given out as prizes! Classes went online to do Manga Maths. The computer room has a very strong body of math resources. We also had  a very successful parent’s day when parents came to do maths games with the lads. Great fun! Click on photos to enlarge.

Oct News Update

We are delighted and honoured to announce that the school’s award winning choir will be singing on a monthly basis at  Holy Family Church, Askea. Under the musical directorship of Olivia Murphy, the boys will perform at 12 o’clock mass this coming Sunday on the 23rd of Oct. Not to be missed. Log on to Choir link to view film clips of Holy Family BNS  award winning choir from years gone bye.

Holy Family BNS would like to thank the Gardai who gave an excellent talk on road safety to the senior pupils. It was a  very valuable exercise  and very much appreciated.

Holy Family BNS would also like to thank local author David O’Donohue who gave a wonderful talk about Walter Speazlebud to the boys of fourth and fifth class at the library. The lads were also very interested in David’s rescue of a dog when he was a child!

As part of National Tree week the Junior Infants of Holy Family BNS  went for a nature week. See slideshow

Brass Instruments

Many thanks to Stephen Harland and  Majella Swan, Director Carlow College of Music, who gave all the lads a go at  playing a brass instrument. Carlow College of Music has a new brass programme – trumpet, french horn, tuba and trombone-which is available to groups of children at a very reasonable cost.
