Active School Flag and Astro Turf Opening.

We had a lovely day on Friday when we raised our second Active School Flag. We are the first school to raise the Second Active School Flag in Carlow. Our visitors from Éire Óg and Carlow Hurlers were among honoured guests, including hurling and football coaches, who do such wonderful work in our school. Medals were also presented to the winners of our luch time hurling league. We were delighted the Carlow Manager, Turlough O’Brien, was also in attendance. However, our VIP was past and present teacher Eamonn Ellis, who was delighted to open our fantastic astro-turf, which has been named in Eamonn’s honour. Our brilliant parent’s council, who work so hard for the school, have  made such a wonderful resource available to the children. Just fantastic!

Science Week

We had a very successful science week. Fifth class visited Carlow IT for a talk on science experiments. The boys from fifth, also made their own science experiments, which they demonstrated to other classes. We also received the great news that we had our submission for the Young Scientist’s Exhibition accepted. We will be travelling to Limerick on the 19th of January to exhibit our project on kinetic and mechanical energy. Well done everyone.

Shoe Box Appeal

A brilliant effort was made in this year’s shoebox appeal by the boys in Holy Family BNS. We donated 68 boxes to the Team Hope Christmas Shoebox Appeal. These gifts go to needy children in Eastern Europe and Africa. Huge thanks and well done to all the boys, parents and teachers who donated.

Mountain Hike

As part of our active school activities, sixth class went on a hike  up Cullahill. It was a fantastic day which the children enjoyed tremendously and the weather was wonderful!

Kilkenny Castle

Fifth Class had a marvellous day visiting Kilkenny Castle as part of their class project on castles. The boys were given a fantastic guided tour and just had a brilliant time. Well done everyone!
