Active School Karate

As part of our Active School Programme, we are always introducing new sports as well as the excellent programmes on swimming, hurling, Gaelic football, soccer etc. that we already run. Our trial run on karate this week was a tremendous success and we look forward to building on same. Well done everyone.

Health School Award.

On Wednesday 25th Oct, Holy Family B.N.S. celebrated receiving the Health Promotion Flag. Senator Jennifer Murnane O Connor, Councillor Fintan Phelan and Fr. Little attended on the day to join in the fun!

Health Promoting Schools is a HSE initiative, a long term program aimed at involving the school community- students, staff and parents- in a whole school approach to promoting the importance of health and well being. Daily meditation, Go Noodle activities, water filters in the classrooms, weekly sport coaches with a particular emphasis on daily physical exercise and many more activities helped us achieve this wonderful flag. Fantastic achievement. Well done everyone.

Happy Halloween.

Have a fantastic Halloween. Thanks to everyone, especially all the boys who have worked so hard and who have been so good all term . Looking forward to seeing everyone back after Halloween. Have a happy, restful and above all safe mid term break. Míle Buíochas

Quiz, Athletics, Gaeilge, Young Scientists and Maths Week!

Well done to our two quiz teams who took part in the Irish Quiz in Éire Óg. Out of thirty teams participating the boys finished in the top section. Quiz practice continues after school. Our athletes collected a large amount of medals in the Schools County Finals. Well done to their parents, trainers and teachers. We are developing a new online resource to promote the teaching of Irish. Feedback so far has been very positive. View Foclóir and Gaeilge Audio Books from menu above. We have submitted our application for the Young Scientists exhibition in Limerick in May. If we are successful, this will be our sixth time attending the Young Scientists. Finally preparations are underway for Maths Week Maths quizzes which are always a big hit with the children. Míle Buíochas.

Teddy Bear’s Picnic

On Thursday September 20th Holy Family BNS hosted a Teddy Bears Picnic for Junior Infants, their teddy bears, their parents and grandparents. Everyone enjoyed reading their books and munching on some fresh fruit.
Thanks to everyone who helped on the day including 6th class boys who prepared all the fruit in the parents room kitchen.
