Foclóirín Cainte
This is a portal for up to 200 digital audio booklets that we have created i.e. Circa 4,000 Irish words in total. Average length of each YouTube booklet : 2 minutes. There are 20 words per digital booklet.
We are also linking these booklets to Kahoot for assessment purposes. Use the RED search term to be found at end of Word Meanings to access exact booklet. Kahoot is just fantastic.
The emphasis is on using the images to teach children and learners the meaning of the various Irish words. These digital booklets are for anyone who has an interest in enhancing their Irish vocabulary.
These digital vocabs are on YouTube to maximise accessibility. Word meanings can be viewed on YouTube also. Click on the “Show more” option and scroll down for meanings. If viewing on mobile phone, click on down triangle which is the “Show more” option.
For best clarity of sound please use good quality headphones.
In the Nathanna Cainte Section we have added the English translation in small print. Each leabhar is around two to three minutes in length. There is a pause after each word after to facilitate repetition.
Please note that some words can have a few meanings. Please consult foclóir.ie or tearma.ie which are excellent. There is a reverse translation facility in the English Irish Dictionary which can be very good also.
Booklets must be viewed in HD please. Make sure viewing settings are 1080 Not default settings which are lower.
Very Important. Click on “Subscribe ” option to access Playlists and ongoing uploads.
