Lord Mayor’s Visit

We were delighted with the  visit of former pupil Fintan Phelan to our school. It was the last day of his year as Lord Mayor. He wished our hurling Division 1 finalists all the best in their Hurling Final. Fintan’s visit was also during our annual school fete, which was an outstanding success. This is due in no small part to our brilliant Parent’s Council. Well done everyone!

Visual Playground Trip.

We had great fun at the Playground Project @ Visual today. We played in the loziworm which was created by Pestalozzi in 1972 and can now be found in playgrounds all around the world! We had great fun playing on the wave climbing frame, on the bouncy ropes and in the sand pit. We chatted about how important playing is for our bodies and brains. Then we became ‘play experts’ and created our own playgrounds using paper and recycled materials.

Debating Success

Best of luck to our school debating team. After defeating four schools in the South Leinster Section, the boys will now be debating next Friday in the semi-finals in Kilkenny Education Centre. Best of luck to the boys and their coaches Mr. Percy and Ms. McAssey. They have just been brilliant. Photo shows boys demonstrating their debating skills to the school prior to the Easter break.

Knex Challenge

We are having great fun building our Knex Smashers. Each class will be going to the hall to build their Knex models and then smash them against another lads model! The boys then go back and build a stronger model. Fantastic fun and a great time is had by all.

Green School Action Day

We had a fantastic Green School Action Day. We highlighted all the trees we planted for National Tree Week. We made our own Eco blocks from newspaper. Very messy but great fun. We had an excellent talk on recycling waste, which the children and teachers found most useful. Finally, pupils from our Green Schools Committee, taught all the children how to classify their rubbish. Brilliant day. Well done to everyone who put so much work into making the day such a brilliant success.

World Book Day

We had a most enjoyable book day. There were prizes for book marks, best dressed character as well as book tokens for all the pupils. Our kick starter book program is very popular particularly the Beano, Dandy, Hotspur, Commando and other graphic  books. Well done everyone.
